She had been sorted into Ravenclaw. Not a bad choice. She'd have been happy with either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw but then again it was what the hat saw in you and part of her was scared that she would end up in Slytherin. Maybe that wouldn't have been so bad considering that Jason was there.
Her brother had managed to pull her aside and congratulate her which Zara had been happy about. He promised they would catch up soon. Bert had been sorted into Hufflepuff. She wasn't too surprised about that. And now Zara was alone and struggling to sleep as per usual. So she had managed to pull herself out of bed, fully clad in pyjamas and wandered down floors. A staircase had switched on her and the next thing she knew she was at the library.
Zara tiptoed in and saw that the wall and shelves were filled with books. This was ridiculous. The smell of old parchment filled her nostrils and she smiled. The lamps were burning low and she knew she wouldn't be able to spend long in there considering that it would turn dark and she had not learnt any spells as of yet.

Matt was wondering the corridors at night as he had become prone to doing over the last few months. his eyes becoming more used to the night lighting as He grew accustomed to the creature inside himself. he wasn't sure around other students yet and the teachers were most accepting of that bit of himself. telling him where he could wait out the full moon. or you to brew the wolvesbane potion. he was becoming quite adept at it and his goal was now the library. his wand in hard he'd already cast a lighting spell as he rounded the corner into the library corridor.
he slowly walked through the door into the library. his fingers moving on his wand as he swallowed. it was a bit eerie in here and he wasn't sure what section of potions books to start going through yet

Zara had been wandering the shelves when she heard someone else enter. There was a light with them and she moved as not to be see. peeking out from behind a case she moved after the figure quietly. As she followed she noticed that he was not a professor. He was tall but still looked young. She had not seen him at the sorting so he could not be in her year.
Zara moved forward again and cleared her throat. "Technically we aren't meant to be in here. I just got curious, but you seem to be looking for something. What is it?" Zara asked him bluntly. That was her. She didn't like to beat around the bush. He was obviously being more specific than her in coming to the library. She had simply just stumbled across it.

Matt's head snapped around at the sound of a voice and for a moment he stood rooted with fear. He finally took a breathe and relaxed. "I'm just here trying to find some potions books that aren't on the curriculum." he said softly as he looked at her. She had to be a new student. She wasn't in any of his classes and he smiled seeing her pajama's. "Do you need help finding anything?" he asked. "I love coming to the library so I know where a lot of books are." he said offering to help her. Glancing toward the door he smiled. "I'm Matt." he said as he looked at her.

She listened to him quietly. "And why can't you look during the day?" she asked with an eyebrow arched. Her mouth would one day get her into trouble and yet here she was continuing to use it without a second thought. "I'm not looking for anything. I just couldn't sleep." Zara told him with a shake of her head. "I'm Zara. It's nice to meet you." She was glancing around the library and noticed the back section had some sort of gate like structure to keep people out. She turned away from him and began to walk towards them.

He smiled lightly. "Well, If I came during the day I'd have to deal with everyone else." he said as he looked back over at her. Matt wasn't really bothered by the questions and was happy to answer them right now. "What about you?" he asked. "Why are you out and about so late?" her asked.

"So you're anti social. Nice. Don't let me bother you." Zara said to him. She turned around and said, "Like I said before, I don't sleep very well. A staircase switched on me and so now here I am. Wasting some time until I feel tired." Zara turned away again and moved towards the sections at the back. She noticed the sign telling her it was the restricted section. "Why not just get rid of the books if you are going to restrict them?" Zara asked.

"I'm not anti social. I just don't like crowds." He said as he looked at her. "THey are just restricted because they have things in them that we shouldn't know yet." he said as he looked at her. Following her over to the roped off section. "Things that are 'Too advanced.' to know yet." he said simply using air quotes.

Zara gave him a skeptical look. "I can't imagine the library being much of a party. I'm sure you could find somewhere quiet, especially at the start of the year. Nothing to study for." Zara touched the rope. She wasn't brave enough to just barge in. Not yet anyway. "So what are you looking for? What type of extra curriculum stuff?" Zara turned back around to face him. He was unnervingly tall and it made her wonder if he was just someone who had hit their growth spurt way too early.

"I'm trying to figure out some more potions class stuff." he said as he looked at her. "I'm only in my second year but my teacher thinks I'll be ahead of the fourth or fifth years soon in that field." he said with a smile. Looking at her he grinned. "Everyone says I should of been in Ravenclaw, but I'm happy with being in Hufflepuff." He said as he moved to sit down. He wasn't sure if she was intimidated by his height but he knew it was an oddity that other people like to make fun of him over.

"You're a Hufflepuff. Have you met Bert yet? He's mental. Not in a bad way. He has a pet toad, Speckles. Bert's my friend." Zara told him. She was missing Bert already. "I'm a Ravenclaw. The hat was trying to decide whether to put me there or Gryffindor. So I guess I'm more smart than I am brave. Jason, my brother, he's a Slytherin." Zara rambled. "Hey Matt can I ask you something? What spell did you use to light your wand?"

He looked over at her again and shook his head. "I haven't met him yet, But I'll have to." he said as he grinned. "Well, I think that I might have to ask for help from you some times on my homework." he said grinning broadly. "Come on sit down, I'll show you the spell. It's Reeeeeeeeeeally easy." he said as he pulled his wand back out and held it. "Lumos" he said with a small flick of his wand. The tip lighting up instantly. "Nox." he said after it and the wand went back out.

She gave him a smile. Bert was a little full on but maybe people in Hufflepuff were like that and they would find him... normal. "hey I've only just started." Zara told him when he said he would ask for help. She did laugh though. Zara went and sat with him as he held out his wand. Once he had shown her she then pulled out her own. It was a sleek ebony, 13 inches and had phoenix feather core. She had been so excited when it chose her. "Lumos." she said. The tip of her wand lit up and she grinned at him. "Nox. Thank you. That will come in handy."

Matt smiled as he looked at her. "That was quick." he said as he set his own wand on the table in front of them. It was a short thing only nine inches long but it was made from elm and had a dragon heartstring core. "Are you having fun at Hogwarts?" he asked her curiously as he smiled. His fingers drumming lightly on the table with his energy level starting to rise again

"I seem to pick up everything but transfiguration." Zara told him. She then shrugged, "I like it here more than at home. What year are you in?" Zara asked him curiously. She'd have placed him in third or fourth. She swung her legs slowly under the table and waited for his answer.
