The platform was buzzing with people and Zara had been clinging to her mother's hand as she pushed the trolley. The time had come to board the train and Zara hugged her Mum and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Zara pulled her trunk and the owl cage up onto the train. Jason had already disappeared and Zara had just left him to it. After all he was a third year and she didn't want to aggravate him or embarrass him in front of his friends.
She found a carriage in the middle of the train and pushed her way in. Zara hauled her trunk up so it was above the seat and sat herself down. She looked out the window to see that most of the children had cleared up and so the train would be leaving soon. Zara felt the butterflies in her stomach and she played with her hands in her lap. Hogwarts was her escape from home and she hoped it would be a place she would fit in.

Bert stood on the platform, his mouth open in utter awe. He couldn't believe that this was it, he was actually a wizard, who was actually going to Hogwarts, with other wizard children. It was amazing, he couldn't believe that it was actually happening.
He had been shown how to get ont the platform, and them the Ministry Member had gone. He heaved his trunk onto the train as everyone else had been doing, and took his newly bought toad Speckles from his shoulder into his hands. "This is it Speckles, we're off into the wizarding world!" Him and his baby toad we're about to embark on a whole new adventure, and Bert couldn't wait. it all started here.
With his trunk and Speckles in tow, he started to look for a carriage. The trian was so busy with everyone, and Bert loved it. The atmosphere was buzzing, and he loved the feeling of being surrounded by people. He saw a carriage that only had a single person in it. A person that he had met before. He entered, "Zara! You remember me?" He put his trunk up alongside hers, and sat opposite Z.

The carriage door had opened up and Zara looked away from the window. She then saw Bert come into the carriage and put his trunk away. "I remember you Bert. How could I forget you?" Zara asked him. He had sat down opposite her and she gave him a smile. Honestly, how could she forget the boy who bought a toad to be his pet. The toad which was currently with him.
"How are you feeling?" Zara asked him. If she was nervous she couldn't think what it would be like for Bert. He had had no clue about the wizarding world and so it must have been worse for him. Zara was going to stick with him to make sure he was ok. Hopefully they would be in the same house. They would both have a friend that way. Both have someone to turn to. "I wish I wasn't so nervous."

Bert grinned, "Was it the good looks, the Scottish accent, or the winning personality?" A lot of people seemed to say that whenever they met him for a second time, though they would never tell him why. He truthfully though it was because one of those three things. What else could it be?
Bert couldn't believe that Zara was actually feeling nervous, he couldn't cage the excitement that was inside of him right now he was literally ready to burst. He was having to sit on his hands, because he felt as if he was just going to be bouncing around the room otherwise, which possibly wasn't the best idea. Well not just yet anyway. "I'm excited! I mean come on this is going to be amazing!" He had started to bounce a little up and down in his seat.

Zara's lack of social skills came into play as Bert listed off his ideas of why he was unforgettable. Living in the O'Riley household meant that Zara was pretty blunt. "Bert it was none of those things. It was the fact you picked up the most useless pet going and seemed ecstatic about it. And ok, maybe the accent." The latter had been thrown in as an after thought. Her own accent was probably pretty noticeable.
Zara watched him bounce up and down. The train was beginning to pull away and Zara looked out the window to wave at her mother. She then turned back to Bert and said, "Seven years of our lives starts tonight. It's the sorting that I'm nervous about. I just want to know where I belong." She chewed on her bottom lip. Zara then said, "Oi, you, let's make a promise now. No matter what happens we stay friends. We started this journey together and we will finish it together." Zara help out her pinky finger to him.

Bert's jaw dropped, "Useless! Useless?! Of course I would be ecstatic about getting a toad, have you not seen Speckles?!" What was there not to love about the little fella. "And yeas I know, it's a very distinguishing accent don't you think?"
The "oi" Kind of made Bert scared, but he held his pinky out as well and clasped it around hers. "Together!" he had just made his first proper friend, something that he always seemed tp have trouble doing before and now it just seemed so easy. He liked Zara, and soon Zara would learn to love Speckles, they just needed quality time.

Zara just shook her head. She wasn't about to have an argument with him over the fact that the toad was useless. She knew her opinion and he had his. They should just leave it at that. "Oh it've very distinguished Bert..." Zara mumbled. Between his accent and hers, no one was going to understand them.
When Bert hooked his pinky with hers she gave him a big grin. The train was picking up speed now and they had left the station. She took her hand away and settled into her seat. "I can't wait for the trolley to come around. I want a chocolate frog." Zara informed him. She needed some sugar in her system.
